Michigan Industrial Hygiene Society
PDC-Isocyantes

On September 17, 2002, there were 55 attendees at the MIHS half day PDC at the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth, Michigan. This course was not only packed with attendees, but also with valuable information on isocyanates! Four instructors presented information on the current issues in toxicology, occupational medicine and industrial hygiene related to isocyanates.
Eugenio Salazar, MD, from Dow in Freeport, TX discussed isocyanates from an occupational medicine perspective. Anne H. Chappelle from Huntsman in West Deptford, NJ presented the toxicology of Isocyanates. Barbara Cummings from Bayer in Pittsburgh, PA reviewed the sampling and analytical methods for isocyanates. William P. Robert from BASF in Wyandotte, MI concluded the course with the industrial hygiene perspective. Each attendee received a bound, color booklet containing the presenters' slides, and a CD of the same
with more information. MIHS would like to thank the International Isocyanate Institute (III) for their large contribution in putting together the booklets and CDs! Special thanks to Bill Robert for his efforts through III to arrange for the excellent speakers! Afterward, everyone enjoyed the world famous Frankenmuth chicken dinner.
